Finally, I found the blog that I have been looking for since I started blogging here. The blog about infertility from a male perspective. Now, I know that this doesn’t say much about my internet searching skills, but let’s focus on the end result here…the blog from a man who wants to be a daddy desperately. He also wants to be supportive of his wife as they go through this process and read about infertility from a male point of view. He writes that he started the blog to vent and to also write one since he couldn’t find one from the wanting to be dad-to-be perspective either. He began his blog in December 2005, and has continued it through 2006.
One part of his blog that I read that really brought a new thought to my mind was how he felt/feels unwelcome in infertility groups online because they are mostly for women. Again, in my prejudiced mind, I never would have thought that men would want a group like this. In the couples that I know that have dealt with infertility, it just seems to be the woman’s realm of interaction. But now I am thinking about some of the males that I am friends with that either haven’t tried to have kids yet, or have been successful in their parenting attempts that IF they were to have issues with the conception of their child, they would really do well with a support group. Has there been anything done about this since this man started his blog? There really is a need. For women too. Reading this has opened my mind to parts of the male perspective that I wouldn’t have been able to imagine. This blog is a true gift.
