Calculator Calculating Due Date After Successful IVF As soon as we got the positive beta all I wanted to do was shout the news from the rooftops. We didn’t, of course, but I was obsessed with my news and could think of nothing else. So, I began to furiously scour the internet for information on my probable due date, a progress report on stages of development in pregnancy for me and baby, and so much more. What I found often did not exactly make sense. I was unsure of the date of my last menstrual period and didn’t really know if that would be accurate since it was forced by medications. I had the luxury of knowing exactly when my embryos were fertilized and I thought that information had to be pertinent.

It in fact is! If you conceive during a stimulated IVF cycle the most accurate way to predict your due date is to use the date of egg retrieval to do calculations. If you conceive naturally and have regular menstrual cycles you can use your last menstrual period. Otherwise, there is often a better date to use. If you conceive with IUI the best date to use for calculations is the day of the insemination. Conception after transferring frozen embryos means that the due date can best be calculated by using the day of the transfer.

If you are anything like me, though, all of those calculations can be very difficult. I searched for a simple calculator that would do the math for me and the easiest one I found was here – http://www.ivf.ca/duedate.php. At this site you can just plug in your date of retrieval (or ovulation date) and it will give you the most accurate due date calculation. If you do get that wonderful, glorious positive and want to keep it secret for a while that is perfectly fine and normal. However, you will certainly be overwhelmed with thoughts of your baby to be and what will be happening to you and him or her over the next nine months. So, plug in that retrieval date – get your due date and have fun searching the web for all sorts of fun information that you have waited a long time for!
