Celebrity Infertility: Tom and Nicole

Microscopic View

I have never been particularly fond of Tom Cruise, although I do like some of his movies. I have always liked Nicole Kidman. So, of course I was on "her side" when they split, but that is neither here nor there.

As many of you likely know, Tom and Nicole adopted a couple of kids together. While I do not believe they ever made a big deal about it publicly, speculation has always been that they were infertile together. However, Tom got Katie Holmes pregnant, and now Nicole is pregnant by her husband, Keith Urban. According to the article in Women's Day, Nicole conceived after months of fertility treatments.

I find it interesting when a couple is unable to conceive a baby together but both… [more]

Announcing..... Hey Everybody, I am so excited to share with you guys that I've adopted a little boy ..he was born 2 weeks ago. His name is Wyatt (after my dad) Steven (after my little brother and Scooter) and we are enjoying some very private family time. Just wanted you to be the first to know. Lots of love, Sheryl. The above post came from sherylcrow.com. And what a neat post it is! How exciting is that? Happy news. I can't wait until she is able to let us know a little more about her adoption circumstances and her decisions around the adoption process. Posted on May 12, what a way to bring in Mother's Day! A Positive Spin From The Madonna Dilemma

November 4th, 2006

As you all know, I've been on the pro side of the Madonna adoption, partially because I think that I've stayed away from a lot of the gory back and forth accusations and partially because I'm a fan of Madonna in the first place. And a huge fan of her parenting, mixing and blending family members to the benefit of her children. But this story has had a personal effect on me. And on my family, as far as my mom and my sister are concerned. People have been pretty closed mouthed when it has come around to Becken's adoption. I have mentioned in an earlier post that I have been surprised at the small amount of reaction that we have gotten in public, which we dreaded… [more]

My Heart Is Melting

October 26th, 2006

When I signed on to AOL this morning this was the photo that I saw. My heart melted. I remember the first time that I saw Lourdes in a photo shoot, with her curls and almost black eyes. I remember seeing Rocco being held by his mommy coming out from the family wedding. And now this photo of mommy, sister, brother and David. Tenderness and good wishes for this family flooded my brain. I replied to a previous Madonna post last week on this site. Actually "coming out" as a huge Madonna fan, with my adoration starting way back with my friend Donnelle who was the biggest Madonna fan I had ever known. Her junior high school… [more]

Celebrity Fertility: Brangelina

February 25th, 2006

Brangelina.... hm... ... I have to say that I admire Angelina Jolie for using her super-celebrity powers for good, not evil, and for bringing Brad over to a more serious and engaged-with-the-world side. To us PEOPLE readers, much of Hollywood seems to be overly involved with shopping, canoodling (to put it politely), and generally shallow and materialistic hedonistic pursuits, not to say the rest of the population never indulges in this, but we have a lot less money and generally don't do it in public, nor do we have tons of adoring fans looking up to us and hoping to emulate our every move. Her adoption philosophy seems to be part an parcel of her save-the-world vibe, which I duly admire. But… [more]

Celebrity Fertility: Meg Ryan’s “Asian” Baby

February 24th, 2006

P.S. Clue to the last one: Information on Mongolia from the Translation Site

Okay, for those souls too busy watching the Olympics to be obsessed with Celebrity Fertility, I will update you: the actress Meg Ryan has adopted a baby girl from China. Get it here, from none other than the BBC: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/4653752.stm I find this exceedingly ironic given the flap that I was privy to while in Korea. East Asia, as you may or may not know, is a big repository for celebrity shills, people who are above "tainting" themselves with overexposure here, but gladly push all sorts of bizarre products in Asia because 1. they get paid a lot and 2. no one's going to see the ads… [more]
