Welcome to the Fertility Blog A-Z and Everything In Between

April 6th, 2011

abc_on_the_dices_2Welcome to the new series of Fertility Blogs! As a Mom and a woman who had some of the most excruciating experiences with my infertility treatments, I can empathize and sympathize with every woman, man and family during these emotional times. A friend once asked me to describe myself, using one word, starting with the letter of the alphabet. This gave me 26 ways to describe myself and I felt compelled to accept the challenge; knowing it would be simple, right? I began to ask other friends, family and colleagues to use a word that best described me in their eyes. Some were hilarious, others poignant, and still some even stung. As a columnist, I began a series on life from A-Z and it… [more]

Painting Chef: Like a Little Ray of Sarcastic Sunshine I contacted PaintingChef last night to see if I could reprint her latest infertility post here as I felt that it did such a great job at conveying a reaction to a friend's pregnancy and a new baby born. And isn't this one of the cutest replies as well? Sure! And thanks so much, I'm really flattered!! Lucky for you its one of the VERY few infertility-related ones where I'm not whining and moaning... but if you are interested in those, I promise you, there are PLENTY! Haha!! Cool Blog News!

We have all heard about the book, The Infertility Survival Handbook by Elizabeth Swire Falker. Or, if you haven't heard of it, you have now! Over on Amazon her book is rated 4 stars, but honestly, from what I've heard about it, 5 stars are more like it. And yes, it is on my list of books to read, I'm just waiting for my turn with it at the library. It should be any day now. Anyway, she has started a blog! Yeah! It is called, The Infertility Survival Handbook's Blog, of course. And her first post is about wanting another baby and starting all over again. This should be interesting reading. A little bit more about Swire Falker, written by herself… [more]

Finding The Next

March 17th, 2007

As you have probably guessed, I read a lot of blogs. And to continue that further, I read a lot of infertility blogs. I'm a huge believer in "Misery Loves Company", and boy, was I miserable while trying to have my kids. There was no choice about it, I was miserable. But I'm finding that there are many women out there that aren't miserable. They are keeping on keeping on. And this really gives me hope. It also makes me feel a little bit guilty in all of my wallowings, but, hey, I'm the only me! The blog that I've been recently diving into is titled "Finding the Next" which I would readily nominate for best title for an infertility blog, ever!… [more]

Relief From 5 Minutes for Mom

February 21st, 2007

A blog that I like to read is called 5 Minutes for Mom which is written by twins, Susan and Janice. Janice is pregnant right now and starting last Friday, there has been worry about the pregnancy. There are times that I think to myself, why do I read stuff like this? It keeps me going back to the exact emotions of my pregnancy losses. Especially when it is a real life woman, who posts her emotions as they are playing out, when she has the time. It is edge of your seat drama, with a friend through the internet. But then there is also comfort, knowing that we all go through some of the same things in times like this. And wisdom… [more]

The What Ifs of Infertility

January 7th, 2007
Posted By: Karianne

Through stirrup-queens and sperm palace jesters I found the following link for "I Probably Shouldn't Be Writing This" from Thalia's blog. This post is in the Creme de la Creme of The Best from the Infertility and Pregnancy Loss blogs 2006. Thalia writes about the "what ifs" from all of her fertility treatments and unprotected sex. What if each one would have taken hold? She talks about how old each child would be and what they would be doing at this time. It is eye opening to say the least, and got me thinking about some what ifs that are in my life. If our first pregnancy had held before Ivy, we would now have a 4 year old. If our second pregnancy would held, we… [more]

Wine, Anyone?

September 24th, 2006

I was over on Tertia's blog today and she posted the following article: Wine-drinking women are more fertile - report September 18 2003 at 11:30AM Copenhagen - Women who drink moderate quantities of wine become pregnant more easily than their teetotal or beer-supping sisters, a Danish medical review reported Thursday. According to Dagens Medecin a study of 30,000 women showed that those who chose a glass of wine over beer or spirits were most likely to conceive. The least likely to become pregnant were those who drank no alcohol at all. The research was carried out by a team headed by Mette Juhl of the state serology institute, Statens Serum Institut. They could not explain the reasons for their… [more]

Her Very Own

September 10th, 2006

Here is some advice from Akeeyu at HerVeryOwn blog that I entirely agree with for all of you new-to-blogs readers:I hate this stage. I am loathe to type a single word when I know we'll be cycling so soon because I suspect that in six weeks I'll just be one more example of why you should never read infertility blogs backwards. It's too depressing to read about stale hope and old loss when you know how things come out in the end. Sometimes I go back and read old entries and am struck by the urge to yell "Look out!" at the screen, as if I'm watching a horror movie late at night. Reading backwards means that you know where the villain is lurking, you… [more]

The End of a Blog

September 2nd, 2006
Posted By: Karianne

I was checking in with my favorite blogs last night, looking for some inspiration and also some updates on families that I know and I came across the following post from my friend, the blogger also known as Mary Poppins. Good Bye The parrot on the end of Mary Poppins' umbrella has been squawking something about the winds changing. This morning, MP stuck her head out the window, and son-of-a-gun, the parrot was right. Perfect winds for a departure. Perfect winds for a happy ending and a happy beginning. MP will now snap, and her computer, keyboard, printer, and digital camera will hop into her carpet bag. She must hurry if she is to catch up with the children flying kites in the park. You never know when MP will come back… [more]
