A reader sent me a link to an interesting news release that was published yesterday: Couples Quiet When it Comes to Concerns about Fertility. The news release contains many interesting statistics based upon a survey conducted by Genosis Inc., the company that created a product called Fertell. The news release also talks about this product and its ability to begin the fertility process in the privacy of your own home.
Let’s start with the product in this post, and then I will discuss the statistics in my next post.
According to this news release, Fertell is an “at-home fertility screening test for men and women.” How cool is that? I could have saved a good six months of time if this product had been available when I was considering fertility screening. My husband was reluctant to talk about his fertility with me, much less with a doctor, and he was embarrassed about having his semen analyzed.
Fertell is a kit that screens both the woman and the man for fertility issues. You can see a picture of the product for both screenings here. The female fertility test screens for a particular hormone, and the male fertility test screens whether the man has at least 10 million motile sperm per milliliter of semen. According to the website, both tests are 95% accurate, so the product can serve as your initial fertility screening before you contact a fertility specialist.
You can see a very slick and professional demo of the product here. It looks very easy to use for both men and women.
I really like that you can do the initial screen for male fertility in the privacy of your own home. While many women are eager to get the ball rolling, many men are reluctant to see a doctor about fertility issues. Now a man can do the initial screening at home before having to take the next step.
Have any of you tried this product yet? If so, what did you think? You can leave a comment here or e-mail me at faitha@adoptionblogs.com. I will keep your name confidential: I am just interested in user feedback.
