While I view my own fertility story as a successful one because it ultimately led me to my child through adoption, some of you who are reading this blog might not agree. For some of you, the goal is to become pregnant, and hearing the “A” word is not comforting to you. So, I would like to share some fertility success stories experienced by people in my life. These are not stories that I have heard about or read about: These are people in my life who have battled infertility and won by conceiving and giving birth to healthy children.
Clomid
One of my friends battled infertility for a while before finally becoming pregnant with the help of the drug Clomid. Soon into her pregnancy, she discovered that she was pregnant with twins. She gave birth to a healthy boy and a healthy girl. She later went on to have another healthy little girl.
Intrauterine Insemination (IUI)
I have a friend who struggled with infertility for which the doctors could find no cause. She did a few rounds of Clomid with no luck. Then, she became pregnant with her son after her first IUI. He was born completely healthy and was the answer to many prayers. She conceived her second child only 9 months later without even trying.
In Vitro Fertilization (IVF)
I know another couple who kept their fertility woes completely private. Even their closest friends were kept in the dark for a very long time. After exhausting other avenues of becoming pregnant, they did one round of IVF and became pregnant with their daughter. They later went on to have a healthy son.
Lupron
I know two women who conceived their first children (both healthy girls) after taking Lupron to shut down their reproductive organs and give them a “rest.” Both have gone on to have two more healthy children.
Fertility procedures do work for many people, even if they did not work for me. So, hold onto your hope. Perhaps you will be the next success story.
