Steak Foods That Boost Fertility It is never a bad idea to eat well. It can definitely be difficult, though, to concentrate on being healthy and eating good for you foods in the midst of the turmoil and disappointment that infertility brings. Researchers and doctors suggest that noshing on comfort foods or pick-me-up sweets can actually be detrimental to not only your waist line, but also fertility. I am a stress eater and I know that there are many others who also turn to carbs or chocolate when they are feeling low. In order to boost fertility, it is suggested that people trying to conceive seek out certain kinds of foods that will have a fertility benefit.

It’s really all about the vitamins. Menstrual cycles that are too long, ovulation problems and early miscarriages have been attributed to nutrient deficiencies. Odds of conception are said to increase in women whose diets include plenty of protein, zinc, Vitamin C and iron. This was actually new information to me. I had heard many times that it was important to maintain a healthy weight and to stay away from things like alcohol. I had never heard that there were actually foods that could help (and if not certainly wouldn’t hurt) efforts to conceive.

It makes sense, though. Pregnant women are advised to take a pre-natal and often a multi-vitamin from the minute they know they have conceived. It is common sense that if your diet can consist of the same vitamins that you need while pregnant when you are trying to get pregnant that it could have some kind of benefit. I guess I wasn’t employing much common sense, though because I never thought to try to eat vitamin rich foods in addition to trying to lose weight and get healthy. I definitely wanted to lose weight and so I stayed away from carbs and loaded up on salads. I know now that incorporating protein and iron could have had more of a benefit than trying in vain to lose weight.

Protein rich foods include red meat (great for iron), eggs and dairy products, nuts, cereals, and many vegetables. Foods with high protein often are good sources of zinc as well. Vitamin C can primarily be found in fruits. So, eat up! A yummy, vitamin rich meal that seems to break all diet rules could be just what you need to boost your fertility.
