Tonight on the National Geographic channel is a new documentary that explores the facts and mysteries of multiples: twins; triplets; and quadruplets. To find out your specific listing you can check the site with thislink.
I have a coworker who has 9 month old fraternal twin boys. I have a dear friend who is very pregnant with twins and is being induced tomorrow. I also have a brother and sister that are twins and are 18. At different times today they both were telling me about this documentary that they had seen on the 14, which was last Sunday. I was bummed that I had missed it.
Upon coming home I thought that I would look into it a bit more and see if there was a companion dvd or something that I could buy or rent from the library. To my surprise and thankfulness that I’d checked, it is viewing again tonight.
Since multiples can sometimes be a factor with using certain fertility treatments, I figured that this community would be pretty interested in what the film makers discovered.
Here is the description of the show from the site:
Egg and sperm meet and spark a perilous journey of fetal development, but what if there are two, three or even four along for the ride? In the Womb: Multiples, a two-hour world premiere special, utilizes groundbreaking technology to take viewers into theextraordinary world of twins, triplets and quadruplets as they develop in utero. The special follows the stories of three expectant mothers from conception to birth and travels inside the womb to see the tiny fetuses begin to interact with each other.
The documentary has it’s own web pages that include a preview of the movie, a timeline, facts about multiples, and more. You can access this here. There is also a photo gallery.
