Sex and the City

If you are like me and have put off watching the last episodes of the series "Sex and the City" for years, don't continue reading this post because I will blow the ending for you.

Chris and I lead a sparse life as far as cable goes. We have the most basic package available and for the most part, think that we have a great fit. Not having HBO though was difficult, as I had to get my SATC fixes when the seasons would come out on video, or later, on DVD. I love to imagine a life like Carrie's life, especially the fashions. This woman knows no boundaries with clothes and I will admire that until the cows come home. What a doll. My sister recently sent out a survey over myspace to all of us and one of the questions was who we most identified with on television. My answer? Of course, Ms. Carrie Bradshaw.

When I knew that the series was ending, I was sad, yet I was able to space out the last season over a period of years since I've been so busy with the kids and the content really isn't child friendly. This past week I knew that I would have some down time at home while the kids were with their Mema and I had a bunch of laundry to fold. It was time to watch the last episodes. I was emotionally ready.

Well, was the big news for me that Carrie and Big finally got together? Nope. That Miranda and Samantha had settled into their lives? Nope. The crowning glory for me was the referral of Charlotte and Harry's baby from China. Yep, that did me in. When Harry comes in from getting the mail, and says that they got something from China my heart stopped. And when they pulled out her picture, Charlotte's tears and declaration that "She's our baby." Had me bawling. The swooning Paris love scene paled in comparison.

Involving Charlotte's difficulties with conception, miscarriage and failed adoptions were so on the mark in this show. Everything was portrayed in such life like reality that at times, I couldn't watch. It was too close to home.

So, to all of us who struggle with love, infertility, fashion, friendships and growing up, I wish us all a happy ending. Just like Charlotte.
