A few years ago, it seemed like all of the rage was those yellow Lance Armstrong bracelets. My young niece had one, as well as my retired father in law. Then more and more causes and colors came on the scene. Along with school bans and controversies as well. I don't often see these types of bracelets any more.
While my dad was sick with cancer, we looked into buying bracelets to show our support of him and to also do a little fund raiser for him while times were lean. For pancreatic cancer, the color is dark, deep purple. It was embedded with the words, "Share The Care". Through my cancer support office, I purchased a rainbow colored one that represented many different diseases. It read, " Say it, Fight it, Cure it". I recently put them all away, out of sight. Saving them to show my kids when they get older.
I wondered if there were awareness bands for infertility and miscarriage and I found the above link. Here are what the pink and light blue colors can represent. I'm glad that so many causes are represented, yet I'm also sad that there are so many things to fight for, that we have ran out of colors.
Amniotic Fluid Embolism
Baby Safe Haven
Birth Defects
Hyperemesis Graviduram
Infant Loss
Infertility
Male Breast Cancer
Miscarriage
Pregnancy Loss
Premature Birth
SIDS
(Sudden Infant Death Syndrome)Stillbirth
Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome
This web site also offers personalization and pins. The cost for the bracelets is $ 4.95 with proceeds donated to charity.
Also, a combination of bracelets can mean something. Wearing a black bracelet along with a pink means mourning or loss of a daughter or sister, while black and light blue means mourning or loss of a son or brother.
