I decided this week to devote a little bit of time to dads and dads-to-be. I thought that I would do some blog reading on infertility from the male perspective. I couldn't find one during the small amount of searching that I did. I did find a really interesting article from a dad who suffered with his wife through their infertility woes and then go on to have a daughter and then some!
"Life to Music" by Mark Stackpole

Anyway, I'm laughing my you know what off after reading this piece. He talks about his life in terms of a soundtrack and which songs play at certain times. I'll give you one guess as to which song he chose when describing the conception news. That's right. The Rocky theme song! How wonderful is that? This guy rocks! I could only imagine asking any other male in my life what song they would pick in that situation. 9 times out of 10, I'd bet that Rocky would be the chosen one. Or maybe Eye of the Tiger from one of the other Rocky movies.
Not only was this reading funny, it made me think about my life today and in the past. What would my soundtrack be? What would be playing right now? What about the songs when my kids arrived? Which song of desperation would I have chosen during our attempts to carry our babies to term? Which song to choose when we lost them? I have told Chris and my sister Landi the songs that I would like to be played at my funeral when the time comes, but songs to describe living milestones is new to me. Of course, now that I'm thinking about different songs, I'm drawing a blank and can't think of any songs at all besides 99 Problems by Jay-Z because it has been in my head all day.
So, any ideas? What would you choose for your song of the day? What would your song be at this moment? And as Mark Stackpole asks in his article, "So tell me, what song will be playing when your miracle arrives?" AND if you hear of any dad to be blogs, please let me know!
