This is a wee bit off topic, but I’d like to riff on low-rider jeans.
I’m not talking about the low-low kind where you have to worry about what your underwear looks like, I’m just talking about the new cuts that hit a bit below what they euphemistically call “your natural waistline.”
My friends and I have all discovered the secret that the somewhat-low rider jeans are mercifully comfortable to that post-preg bump my friends and I almost all have, even the ones who haven’t given birth. A slightly longer shirt (i.e., the kind that hits at the hip) and you are set to go.
Jeans are my preferred working uniform (i.e., for teaching; when writing, look for me in my worn and unlovely sweatpants). Nice jeans can look perfectly dressed up under a serious jacket. And since I’m trying to keep as organic as possible while preparing to conceive, I was overjoyed to find Loomstate Jeans, which makes organic jeans that are fashionable and perfectly fit my save-the-planet vibe. Also, they are made in a certain way that makes the hem easy to adjust; one email to the website and a very nice person named Jered emailed me back with detailed sewing instructions.
The other jeans (though not organic) that I like are James Jeans. The designer/originator is Seun Lim, so she definitely seems to understand the Korean body type. A pair of those were my fortieth birthday present to myself.
