Miscarriage Coping Guide for Men on SharedJourney
I typed men miscarriage into the google search engine tonight and came across this list for men and how to cope with a miscarriage.
Now, I’ll tell you. Being through a miscarriage more than once, I’m not too sympathetic to men in that situation. In fact, when it came to Chris, I was downright resentful and irritated that I was shouldering the majority of the recovery, while he seemed to have all of the faith in the world that things would work out for us, just because. No rhyme or reason behind his line of thinking. He just knew that we would carry a child and he wasn’t concerned. Yes, there were times that I hated him for that.
Well, reading through the above article, I see that he isn’t the only man to feel this way. Which, in a way, gets him off of the hook, I guess. Or, considering he was right about the whole thing could buy him some points, but it just makes me more angry when I think about it. Anyhow, here is the segment that was SOOO familiar.
because men do not experience the physical symptoms of miscarriage, it can sometimes be difficult for them to understand the emotions that women experience after a pregnancy loss. While you may feel that getting pregnant is just a matter of time, your partner may feel that pregnancy after miscarriage is an unreachable goal. However, it is important to listen to your partner and reassure her that it is okay to be upset. Validating your partner’s emotions is key to regaining her sense of confidence and optimism and helps her to work through the grief and uncertainty that miscarriage and especially recurrent miscarriage often bring.
I am an infamous forwarder of internet articles. If I would have had the sense of mind to look for this type of article, I really would have sent it to Chris and included a little note at the beginning of which passage to pay his utmost attention to. Hopefully if any of you are going through this right now, you still have that option to let him know how he could be positively reacting to you!
