"Mom Spa" Post

My wonderful local library ordered this book from a request put in by me! I found the original book while browsing one night at Borders and it looked like so much fun. The title is Mom Spa 75 Relaxing Ways to Pamper a Mother's MInd, Body, and Soul." Written by Jennifer "Gin" Sander and the Momspa Team.

Now, back in my struggling days, I would have taken offense to a book like this, because I would have really wanted to read it, but felt like it was for "mom's only". It only took me a while to figure out that being a mom in mind and spirit is just as good as far as reading a book was concerned so I would either borrow it or buy it for myself.

I'm the kind of gal that will go for the cutesie 9 times out of 10. This cover had me hooked with its sparkly bathtub water and the cartoon mom with her hair up and a glass of champagne in her hand. I want to be that lady. I couldn't wait to dive in to find out 75 ways to spoil myself.

My first outstanding tip that I would like to share is #31. Play Dress Up. My mom is constantly telling the story about when I was about the ages 3 to 6, I would change my clothes at least 3 times a day. Just having my own little fashion show because I really enjoyed my clothes. Whenever I go shopping and buy new things, I also have a fashion show at home, showing off to Chris and the kids what I bought. But mostly gloating at how little I spent, as I am the ultimate bargain shopper. Here is the Mom Spa's take on "Play Dress Up"

Sheri Belmonico, known to her friends as Gigi (short for "glamour girl"), loves to spend an evening or afternoon playing dress up in her own home. Her own MomSpa technique for relaxation is to rummage through her closet and pull out the clothes she already owns to try on in new and different combinations. "In the middle of the day if I'm all alone at home - everyone else in the household is at school or at work - I might stop my chores for a bit and just have an impromptu play session with my clothes. I love clothes, and dressing up makes me happy, but in my small town I seldom get the chance. pg 76

I can't wait to get to my closet to see if there are any new outfits due to new combinations in there!
