Early Morning In The Garden

I had a very busy and exciting weekend planned. I had planned a large birthday party/fundraiser for our adoption agency. I have been working and prepping for months now and the day was finally here on Saturday. The entire weekend was hectic and fun. But, being me, I kind of focused on the hectic.

We set up the hall on Friday night for four and a half hours. We continued the errands and decorating for another five hours on Saturday. And then clean up, including stacking hundreds of chairs and fifteen tables. Sweeping and mopping. And hauling out bag after bag to a locked dumpster in the parking lot.

How did I save my sanity? Well, one tip from MomSpa really helped out these past few days.

Early Morning in the Garden

On a day when you know you are headed for a stressful time, why not set your alarm early, set the automatic coffee maker, put your slippers next to your bed, and vow to watch the sun rise from your garden perch? It gives you a quiet time to reflect on the challenges you have to face, whether they involve family or business, and lets you gather your thoghts and gird for the stress to come. Later on, in the midst of your day, you will be able to close your eyes and picture in your mind’s eye the beauty of the moments that you witnessed just a few short hours ago.

Although I skipped the coffee and the sunrise, I did take the time to get outside earlier than normal and spend some time trying to “gird” for my day. Being in the fresh air and the quiet was a very peaceful way to start my day. And I really think that it did help.

    What a cool idea. Maybe I’ll have to try that this summer…though that always sounds better at 8:00 in the evening than at 5:30 in the morning!
