Mooring from Stirrup Queens and Court Palace Jesters

The above post was up on the Stirrup Queens site this morning. She writes about the nesting that occurs when women go through fertility treatments. And the mooring that she has went through, which she describes as this:

It's nesting when you believe that you need to prepare for a real baby. The cleaning--it's all a grasp for control when you don't believe you will ever have an actual baby (or another baby in the case of secondary IF). It's mooring--a desperation to attach yourself to something more stable so you don't float away. An anchoring of sorts when you feel as if you are surrounded by chaos. It's not supposed to be like this. I'm supposed to be able to make a baby.

She also describes using exercise to stay grounded and to stay in control of a life going out of control with infertility. No where have I seen such a desciptive difference of the crazy experiences of infertiles. She is right on.

Most of the commenters to the above post agree, or say that they are the opposite. I was both when I dealt with my infertility. My home was in a shambles or it was spotless. I was totally fine with my life, or I was so despondent about the way things were heading, that I couldn't lift up my head off of the tear stained pillow. But again, this is how I normally react to things. I'm either all there. Or not there at all.

I don't really remember any types of nesting with the Ivy or with Bec. It must have not hit me too hard, or maybe I got it out of my system before in the trial times. I do remember cleaning like a fiend for our homevisit for the adoption worker, but that was all for naught as she was the sweetest thing in the world and barely glanced at the state of the house. But the before baby comes cleanliness party never showed up at our house. In fact, I packed my labor bag while in labor! I guess I don't do too well with planning ahead.
