I got an email this week mentioning the ov-watch. I was curious to see what it was all about.

Upon first seeing the above photo, I thought to myself, “No way, would I wear that!” I had images of wearing the watch in public, at work etc. People coming up to me, knowing that I was trying to get pregnant. Again, “No way!” But after reading through their site, I learned that you only wear the watch at night, so your conception plans can remain private if you wish.
Here’s how it works:
Researchers in the late 50s and early 60s noted that numerous salts (chloride, sodium, potassium) in a woman’s sweat fluctuated in relation to the menstrual cycle. Chloride levels are low at the start of the menstrual cycle and peak three times during the cycle (see graph below). Using a patented biosensor, OV-Watch detects a baseline chloride ion level for each woman and then accurately predicts ovulation based on the timing of the first peak. The OV-Watch detects the chloride surge 3 days prior to the estrogen surge, 4 days prior to the LH surge and 5 days prior to ovulation, making it an earlier predictor of ovulation than any other chemical surge during the month. During the clinical trials for FDA approval with Dr. Arthur Haney at Duke University, approximately 3 out of 4 women received the full 5 day notice of ovulation while only 1 in 6 women were given more than 12 to 24 hours notice with urine tests or LH kits. For women trying to conceive, knowing the days before ovulation not only lowers the stress level for her and her partner , but it increases her chances of getting pregnant.
The watch clearly lets you know advance ovulation times on it’s face. According to the success stories, it has worked for some couples. At least it is less messy than those urine sticks!

Hi I wanted to leave you my success story regarding the OV-Watch. DH and I tried for 13 months before getting pregnant. I used everything urine stick, CBFM, BBT. I was driving him crazy with our BD schedule. i finally realized that whenever they gave me positives I wasn’t really ovulating than. Usually a week later. My doctor told me about the OV-Watch and I bought it, I was pregnant after two cycles. The first cycle I used it I tested it against the CBFM, monitor gave me a peak, went to the doctor was told nope not ovulating. The OV-Watch gave me my fertile days I went to the doctor after it said ovulation and confirmed it with my doctor. The following month it was the only thing I used and now am pregnant and due in January. Best purchase I ever made. They also have a message board site you can check out http://www.mybabychat.com
