3. Choose the path of trust This one is hard for me to take in relating to infertility, especially when I was in the thick of dealing with it. Jeffers suggests that instead of seing yourself as the "victim" you trust that your life is exactly how it is supposed to be. Well, this advice is hard to swallow when you want a child so badly. But when I look back now at the children that I do have, I'm glad that things worked out like they did. But I am not thankful for my infertility. I know that it doesn't make sense, but this is how I feel. I wouldn't wish the emotions that I went through on anyone.

4. Increase your sense of power In this suggestion, she advises to use the following affirmation, "Whatever happens in my life, I'll handle it!" Jeffers says that this will help you to develop trust in yourself.

5. Collect "heroes" who have learned to "handle it" This is great advice for women and men trying to build their families. I know that once I learned of others dealing with infertility, I didn't feel so all alone. Also, this really helped in our adoption process as well. I have made some wonderful friends with this piece of advice. But Jeffers suggests heroes such as Christopher Reeve and others who have suffered so much more than we have, to see the good that they have done in the world because of their situations.

6. Focus on the learning that can come from any situation in your life I suppose that this could be thought of as always trying to find the silver lining in the dark cloud. No matter how horrible something is, there is always something, even something super tiny that can be learned. Even if that lesson is that you never want to be in that situation again!
