Peace of Mind, Part 3

7. Embrace the thought, "It's all happening perfectly." Here is another affirmation that Jeffers uses frequently, but in the same case as the other one, I don't think that it would have helped my state of mind during the "trying to get pregnant" phase of my life. It's hard to really feel this way when the one thing that you really want seems easily attainable by everyone else, except yourself.

8. Focus on the blessings This was one thing that I did do while trying to get pregnant. I was lucky enough to have many nephews and one niece of varying ages that I was able to be grateful for and to focus on while I was trying to become a mother. My brother and sisters' offspring still are my "first" children, although I have two of my "own". I had also been reading the book, Simple Abundance, by S. Ban Breathnach, which encourages you to keep a gratitude list. I will review this book later on as it has been very helpful to me throughout the years. And as I'm thinking of it now, I believe that it was one of Oprah's first book recommendations, although it isn't on her book list.

9. Get involved It took me a long time to be able to go to a support group meeting for parents who had lost their children through miscarriage and infant death. But by the time that I was able to attend, I was ready to hear the stories of others and to share mine with them. Now, I am on the parent board through the group at one of my local hospitals and I speak to nurses about my experience. The last part took me many years to be able to be strong enough to do, but now, I wouldn't think of giving it up.
