I don't know if the rest of you are fans of the Berman sisters, but I know that I am. The Bermans are doctors that specialize in women's sexual health. The study that their center conducted, which was funded by K-Y, by the way, found out that vacations are very helpful to intimacy in couples.
Now, this might not sound too surprising to anyone, but having any type of reminder to take a vacation is a good thing in our society. Especially if conceiving kids or having kids are involved. Wanting to be moms and already moms really can use a break. Bringing along the spouse can only add to the relief and the fun of it. Although sometimes, I know I really would like a vacation by myself.
Back to the study's findings.
Vacations are usually marked by three distinguishing features: relaxation, pleasure and new experiences. All are as close as you can get to an effortless aphrodisiac. A week (or a long weekend) in paradise teaches us that rest and exercise are the keys to better sex. They also happen to be two activities that most of us don't get enough of in day-to-day life. Vacations allow you to drift into relaxation...no alarm clocks, no deadlines, no stresses. It's amazing how the libido jumps back to life under these conditions!
After reading this, I'm really ashamed to admit that it has been over 4 YEARS since Chris and I have had a vacation together without the kids. And I really thought that we were doing well with having our weekly date night! Maybe it's time to call the travel agent. And the grandparents.
Sorry about the complicated link to "Love In Paradise", as it wouldn't post correctly in this format today!
